Do I have to pay to attend?
This virtual event is free, and is hosted by community members within the Cooey Center of Excellence Discord. As long as you're on the server (which is free to join), you can participate!
Are sponsorships available?
We try our best to remain vendor agnostic. While we have lots of community members who are a part of familiar businesses and active organizations, we do not have paid sponsorships up for grabs. Want to speak at a future 24 Hour of CMMC event? Get (and stay!) involved in the Discord channel!
What if I can't make it the entire 24 hours?
We'll forgive you.
No, but really - pop in when you can! Presentations and discussions will be happening over the 24 hours, so we'd love to have you whenever you can make it!
I heard there are prizes. Is that true? What's the catch?
It's true - there are prizes! There is no catch. Just that you have to be willing to message your name and mailing address to a moderator if you win. (they'll dispose the info properly afterwards, of course) How else will they mail your loot?
Do I have to dox myself?
You don't have to tell fellow participants who you are, or what organization you're with - but you can, if you want. That's 100% your call. We discourage participants from doxing someone other than themselves, unless the person is okay with it.
What if I have technical difficulties?
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
(if you really get stuck, tag a moderator in the Discord Event Chat Channel)
Where does the actual event take place?
The event "lives" in the COE Discord Server.
We'll post more information and links on the Event Chat Channel on Thursday, July 13.
There will be a Zoom link for a few interactive sessions on Thursday that will be more fun if people have cameras turned on (not a requirement for those sessions, but encouraged!) - like Jeopardy - but most sessions will take place in a Voice Channel on Discord.
The CMMC Metaverse is held in a different platform. More details will be shared within Discord in the days leading up to the event.
We ask people to keep their cameras off if there are more than 15 people in the room, since Discord has a limit to how many people can share cameras and content once we hit a certain number of participants.
Worst case - we'll have an overflow room, so don't stress. This isn't one of THOSE kinds of events.
Do I have to talk?
No, not unless you want to.
(but we encourage you to be engaged!)
Many sessions will be led by subject matter experts presenting, or laying the ground work for a discussion, and following up with open forum to chat and talk.
This community is awesome because of people like you engaging and challenging each other to think differently. We have no problem with you lurking, but we would love to hear your thoughts!
When's the next 24 Hours of CMMC?
Woah, there. Calm yourself. We're still reading NIST 800-171 Rev 3's draft, okay?
